Offering Innovative Pathways to Educator Licensure
Accelerated Program Structure
NV-EPIC programs are designed to be completed in one year without losing the rigor and quality of a traditional, 4-year teacher preparation program or 2-year Alternate Route to Licensure (ARL) program.
Apply, Accept & Welcome Phases
BY April/May 2023
NV-EPIC staff review applications on varying deadlines throughout the Cohort application cycle. Once you’ve accepted your admission, NV-EPIC program staff will also help get you connected to UNLV resources like your ACE ID, RebelMail, and Slack.
Students will be expected to attend mandatory in-person (Zoom for non-Clark County) Orientation in April 2023.
Program Phase
May 2023 to July 2024
First stop is Bridge where you’ll complete your first credits of coursework in June with in-person sessions Saturday that month. Student’s performance in Bridge is the final metric for program admission. Successful candidates will continue taking courses in July 2023.
Students officially accepted into Cohort 3.0 must be committed to dedicating a solid year of your life to completing coursework and other professional development opportunities. For many students, that will mean having mandatory, in-person (or via Zoom for those outside of Clark County) Saturday classes as much as every week.
But don’t lose sight of the goal!
When you’re done, you’ll have 1) earned a Bachelor of Science OR a Master of Education from UNLV and 2) completed all of your coursework requirements to apply to be a fully licensed educator in a Nevada school!
Mentoring Phase
july 2024 to july 2027
This program offers three years of continued support for program students through direct mentoring and professional development opportunities.
During this phase NV-EPIC program staff is also available to help students stay on task to complete their final requirements for licensure from the Department of Education (i.e., content area exams, endorsements, etc).
